Underwriter

Position Job Title :

• Underwriter FLSA Status :                               Non - Exempt Job Location :                              Remote - Florida Position Summary.
• The primary function of the Underwriter is for underwriting residential mortgage loans for the New Home Co.
• Examine loan documentation for accuracy and completeness to ensure loans meet eligibility requirements and to mitigate risk or loss to the company.
• Essential Duties and Responsibilities.
• Review all loan submissions submitted by origination staff and generate initial credit decision in accordance with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, Bond and other investor guidelines as well as internal overlays.
• Evaluate mortgage loan applications to determine eligibility, acceptability, and compliance with applicable state, federal and investor guidelines.  Perform credit and property analysis on conventional and government loan files.
• Analyze complex tax returns and accurately calculate income.
• Input data and notes into the Encompass loan system.
• Maintain quality and production standards as set forth by management.
• Effectively communicate, orally, in writing, and via email, the decisions reached as to maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and customers.
