Hull & P&I Senior Underwriter

As a Hull & P&I Senior Underwriter, you will underwrite and manage new business and renewals within the Ocean Marine space, with a focus on commercial fishing, passenger vessels, and other Hull / P&I exposures. This role requires deep industry expertise, technical underwriting skills, and the ability to foster strong agency relationships. You will work within One80's specialized marine practice and be a key contributor to program growth and profitability.

Your Impact :

• New Business & Renewals : Select, rate, and underwrite new and renewal accounts to achieve production, retention, and profitability targets within your defined authority.
• Agency Relationship Management : Manage relationships with assigned agencies, conduct quarterly agency visits, and support new business development through proactive engagement.
• Team Collaboration : Provide guidance and task delegation to team members including Analysts, Raters, Associate Underwriters, and Underwriting Technicians.
• Claims Coordination : Work with internal and external claims resources to ensure coordinated claims handling and client support.
• Referral Management : Refer risks that exceed your authority to the Department Manager, accompanied by thorough analysis and recommendations.
• Workflow Management : Maintain an efficient workflow and underwriting process for your assigned territory, meeting departmental service and operational standards.
• Reinsurance Negotiation : Negotiate excess or quota-share reinsurance placements when required to meet capacity or pricing needs.
• Training & Mentorship : Assist in the training and development of other team members by sharing your expertise and supporting skill development.
• Performance Monitoring : Track results including hit ratios, lost business, and profitability against goals defined by the Department Manager.
• Market Engagement : Attend industry events, stay informed on market trends, and deepen product expertise in Hull & P&I coverage areas.
