Community Recovery Specialist – Behavioral Health and Addiction Recovery
Location : Philadelphia, PA
Job Type : Full Time, Part Time and Per Diem | Onsite
Shifts Available :
PT Shift : 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM, Every Other Weekend 16 hours a week
Evening Shift : 3 : 00 PM to 11 : 30 PM, Every Other Weekend 40 hours a week
Per Diem shifts also available

The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard, through our Miracles in Progress Residential Program, provides structured behavioral health and addiction recovery services for chronically homeless men in Philadelphia. Position Overview
We are seeking compassionate and motivated Community Recovery Specialists to join our Miracles in Progress team. The Community Recovery Specialist provides 24-hour care, supervision, and peer counseling to residents in recovery. This is a hands-on position that plays a vital role in supporting clients through treatment, relapse prevention, and reintegration into the community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one on one peer counseling to a caseload of residents
Conduct group sessions on recovery, relapse prevention, sponsorship, and other assigned topics
Orient new admissions to the program and provide ongoing support
Assist nursing and counseling staff with program schedules and client needs
Conduct client room checks, environmental rounds, and monitor behavior
Support vital signs monitoring, urine collection, and package inspection as needed
Facilitate or co facilitate group activities and recovery focused discussions
Provide safe transport for clients to medical, legal, and community appointments
Document observations and maintain accurate electronic health records
Provide follow up support for up to one year after treatment completion
Qualifications
Minimum of 12 college credits in Behavioral Health, Human Services, or related field required
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
One year of experience working with individuals in recovery required
Must be computer literate and possess strong de-escalation skills
Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist training preferred
Bilingual English and Spanish strongly desired
Knowledge of 12 Step Recovery Models, AA and NA programs, motivational interviewing, and recovery management
