HANDYMAN JOB DESCRIPTION


We are seeking a reliable and skilled Handyman to join our building maintenance team in the Bronx. The ideal candidate will have experience in general repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting issues in residential buildings. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1. General Repairs

• Fix doors, windows, locks, and hinges.
• Repair fixtures and minor structural issues.

2. Plumbing Tasks

• Unclog drains.
• Locate and trace leaks.
• Repair leaks in faucets or pipes.
• Install or replace basic plumbing fixtures.

3. Electrical Work

• Replace light bulbs, switches, and outlets.
• Install light fixtures.
• Perform minor troubleshooting of electrical issues (non-specialized).

4. Painting and Finishing

• Perform touch-up painting or full wall painting.
• Repair drywall or plaster.

5. Carpentry

• Build or repair shelves, cabinets, and frames.
• Repair flooring.

6. Appliance Maintenance

• Install, repair, and diagnose small household appliances.

7. Outdoor Work

• Maintain lawn and garden areas.
• Repair fences.
• Clean gutters.

8. Preventive Maintenance

• Inspect property for potential issues.
• Perform seasonal maintenance tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience: Minimum 35 years of hands-on maintenance or handyman work in residential buildings.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair techniques. Basic knowledge of building systems and safety protocols.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks that require standing, bending, and climbing ladders.

Other Requirements:

• • Reliable and punctual.
  • Good communication skills for reporting issues and interacting with tenants.
  • Spanish speaking ability is a plus.
  • Ad-hoc repairs to be performed as requested.
