Job description

Buyer Position

We are looking for a Buyer to join our Exlar team! As our Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing a variety of complex or technical supplies or services. You will coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. In addition, you will process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers. You will monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value. You may recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing. You'll interact closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues, work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability. This role is fully on-site at Chanhassen, MN facility.

Location : Chanhassen, MN

Salary : $70,000 to $80,000

Your Challenge

  • Responsible for purchasing a variety of complex or technical supplies or services.
  • Follow up on all awards until completion of order.
  • Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.
  • Conduct supplier site visits and rate them as to production capability, performance and delivery.
  • Work closely with suppliers to manage and improve supplier relationships.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ year experience in a similar role.
  • Experience reading blueprints and drawings are a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably IFS).
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment would be ideal.
  • Familiar with Microsoft office with a focus on Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Must be a U.S. person.
