What This Role Delivers
The Process Engineer provides support for the Roehm America Production Site in Bay City, TX, encompassing the Formalin, MAL, MMA Reaction, and Purification plants, as well as Utilities. This role is responsible for all aspects of process engineering for the safe and efficient operation of process equipment and will lead, develop, and / or contribute to process improvements in close collaboration with related functions.
What You Will Do
- Provide technical assistance and procedural development for processes and equipment.
- Apply technical knowledge of reactors, distillation, clarifiers, boilers, and thermal oxidizers to improve production efficiency and safety.
- Understand, review, and maintain key operating design documents including Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's).
- Provide support for site safety, environmental, quality and cost goals.
- Collaborate and provide technical support to site Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to identify, develop and implement process optimization measures.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis activities for malfunctions and deviations in Operations, QA, and Engineering processes, developing mitigation measures and performing data analyses.
- Track and trend key performance indicators (KPIs), production data, rates, shift logs and other pertinent information to drive continuous improvement and minimize downtime.
- Prepare reports summarizing the status of ongoing projects.
- Actively participate in Process Safety Management work practices such as Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Manage engineering and procurement specifications for equipment.
- Promote a positive culture by collaborating with Operations, Engineering and Maintenance to resolve issues.
- Develop, implement and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Develop and deploy digital operation tools and methods.
- Ensure support of adequate process-related equipment maintenance systems and programs that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Seeking
B.S. or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.Minimum of 5 years of continuous processing experience in chemical or petrochemical manufacturing.Strong technical skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional and international teams.Working knowledge of engineering principles and standards.Knowledge of operating processes, equipment, and materials and critical analysis skills for evaluating manufacturing performance.Proficiency with MS Office.Familiarity with SAP, Aspen and a range of process simulation tools.Continuous improvement mindset with digitalization and new process methods.Ability to read, understand, and modify schematics and P&IDs.Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.Independence and minimal supervision.Availability for weekend and holiday coverage during shutdowns or critical use periods.Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, lift up to 25 pounds, climb stairs and ladders.Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.What We Offer
