Project Location : Dallas, Texas

Role Type : Freelance / 1099 Independent Contractor

Project-based

Pay Rate : $25-35 / hour

Project Scope :

  • Seeking a certified and licensed installer to perform a complete lightning protection system (LPS) installation for a high-end residential property.
  • The objective is to protect the structure, occupants, and electronics from lightning strikes.
  • The entire installation must be fully compliant with all relevant standards and certifiable.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Install all components of a complete LPS, including air terminals, main conductors, grounding electrode system, and bonding.
  • Install a whole-home surge protective device (SPD) at the main electrical service.
  • Bond all major metallic bodies (plumbing, gas lines, HVAC, etc.) to the LPS as required by code.
  • Ensure all work strictly adheres to NFPA 780 and UL 96A standards.
  • Coordinate with the project manager (Aegisflash) and potentially the homeowner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Mandatory Requirements (Do Not Apply Without These) :

  • LPS Certification : Must hold an active certification as a Lightning Protection Institute (LPI) Master Installer (MI) or Journeyman Installer. (UL Certified Professional also accepted).
  • Texas State License : Must be a TDLR Licensed Master Electrician or work under the direct authority of one.
  • Insurance : Must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for General Liability and Worker's Compensation.
  • Required Skills & Experience :

  • Verifiable, hands-on experience installing both concealed and exposed residential lightning protection systems.
  • Proficiency with specialized LPS tools (cable benders, crimpers, ground rod drivers).
  • Expert knowledge of NFPA 780, UL 96A, and relevant NEC (NFPA 70) articles for grounding and bonding.
  • Familiarity with components from major LPS manufacturers (e.g., ECLE, Harger, ALLTEC).
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and diagrams.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.
  • Primary Deliverable :

    A complete, compliant, and fully functional installation capable of receiving a UL Master Label Certificate.
