Job description

As the Associate Automation Engineer with American Family Insurance, you will be responsible for participating in the full implementation process of intelligent automation solutions that transform business. You will work closely with Lead Engineers, Data Science, and Business Partners to ensure adherence to governance, architecture, and responsible AI standards, guidelines, and patterns in support of solution delivery.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Engineering.

Position Compensation Range : $68,000.00 - $113,000.00

Pay Rate Type : Salary

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will help with the development, enhancement, and maintenance of tools, systems, and software solutions.
  • Participate in the integration and testing of systems / solutions.
  • Help troubleshoot issues with tools, processes, applications, or infrastructure.
  • Assist with technology evaluations and re-engineering activities to support strategy definition and continuous improvement activities.
  • Build strong relationships with peers across functions through collaborative engineering operations and initiatives. Implement automated solutions to enable development needs.
  • Participate in the development of system / solution measures to ensure solutions are fully integrated.
  • Respond to the changing system / solution needs of the company and our clients with agility and flexibility.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of system / software designs and system deployments.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering and Computer Science.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of multiple IT subject areas (e.g., development, testing, configuration, deployment, monitoring, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of infrastructure technologies and application development methodologies.
  • Basic System Administration (configurations, installations, patch management, server maintenance, etc.) and Network Management (firewalls, proxies, IP management, routing, DNS).
  • Limited experience establishing, using, and supporting integration and communication protocols between applications, databases, and technology platforms.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of coding principles in choice of scripts (Powershell, Shell, Perl) or any programming language Java, Python.

  • In this hybrid role, you are expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month out of our Madison, WI offices.
