ROAD MAINTENANCE WORKER I

Nature Of Work : Under general direction, performs duties of average or above average difficulty in the maintenance and construction of county roads and related duties as required.

Typical Duties : The following list may not include all the duties required of this position; loading and unloading of equipment and road materials; perform labor jobs necessary in the maintenance of roads and facilities used in the maintenance of roads. Operate various pieces of light to medium equipment used in road maintenance; perform shop duties such as tire repair, lubrication or equipment, assisting in equipment repair, cleaning of shop facilities, operation of shop equipment and tools; relief operator on various equipment when needed; performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities : Basic knowledge of the operation of all equipment; basic knowledge of the principles of the maintenance needs of all equipment; knowledge of the safe operation of all equipment; basic knowledge of the overall operations of the particular road yard they work in. Ongoing development in operating skills of all equipment and in the dealing with the customers we serve. Ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to perform moderate to heavy physical labor; ability to work well with other team members.

Minimum Qualifications : Two (2) years general labor experience and a good driving record.

Special Qualifications : Possession of an Arizona Driver License and ability to get C.D.L. within specified period of time. (Position is in the classified service and is FLSA non-exempt) This position pays $17.47 per hour.
