Job descriptionPosition Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Lead Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced environment. This role is hands-on and covers core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, inventory tracking, and state and federal compliance. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and comfortable owning transactional accounting while supporting accurate financial reporting. This position works closely with internal teams and leadership to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of accounting processes. Key Responsibilities General Accounting & Financial Operations Maintain accurate financial records within QuickBooks Reconcile bank, credit card, and cash accounts on a regular basis Assist with month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance Payroll & Compliance Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings Manage payroll-related state and federal filings (e.g., quarterly and annual returns) Ensure compliance with wage, tax, and employment regulations Accounts Payable & Receivable Process vendor invoices, verify approvals, and manage timely payments Maintain AP aging and resolve discrepancies with vendors Generate customer invoices, apply payments, and manage AR aging and collections Inventory & Cost Tracking Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile inventory accounts Support inventory adjustments, valuation, and reporting Coordinate with operations or warehouse teams on inventory-related matters Reporting & Support Prepare routine financial reports and provide supporting documentation as needed Assist with audits, tax preparation, and external accountant requests Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls Qualifications Required Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting , Finance , or a related field 4+ years of experience in a staff accounting or general accounting role Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Hands-on experience with payroll , AP/AR , and bank reconciliations Familiarity with state and federal payroll and tax filings Experience working with inventory accounting Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard office software Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Preferred Experience in a small to mid-sized business environment Exposure to multi-state payroll or filings Knowledge of sales tax, use tax, or inventory costing methods Experience working with external CPAs or tax professionals Core Competencies Accuracy and attention to detail Time management and prioritization Problem-solving and follow-through Confidentiality and ethical judgment Ability to work independently and as part of a team Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 + Bonus
