Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is a critical, high-impact position within the Finance Department, reporting directly to the Director, Finance. This role is responsible for accounts payable, full-cycle general ledger management, complex accounting related to investments, project fundings and grants, and ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of the Foundation in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The position serves a dual function, executing core accounting operations while also performing analysis, troubleshooting problems, and recommending improvements to financial processes.

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Prepares and records journal entries, accruals, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations for all general ledger and balance sheet accounts, including complex accounts.
• Manages significant portions of the month-end close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management, including the Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activity.
• Reviews, posts, and / or adjusts complex multi-entity transactions, recommending proper accounting treatment to the Director, Finance or Head of Finance.
• Oversees the Foundation's fixed assets and prepares the monthly journal entry for depreciation.

Location

We are currently working in a hybrid capacity and will require staff to work in person 2 days per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning in December 2025. This position will be based out of our San Francisco office. Employees are required to reside within 100 miles of ON's office location. Candidates must have a current U.S. work authorization to be considered.

Compensation

This is a full-time, salaried position that features competitive pay and benefits, including health care (medical / dental / vision), paid time off, and a generous employer 401k contribution. The salary range for this role is $124,000 to $155,000. ON manages pay equity seriously and new hires generally start at the midpoint of this range.
