This position will be responsible for maintaining our state roadway system. Through cooperation, coordination and collaboration among the OneFDOT team, you will be contributing to a strong and empowering culture of TRREC : Trust, Relationships, Respect, Empowerment, and Communication.

Your specific responsibilities include operating a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment, performing pre-trip inspection / minor maintenance on vehicles / equipment, using a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways, performing rough carpentry, masonry, painting and / or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs, and performing Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities : knowledge of typical construction measuring tools, equipment, or instruments and standard safety techniques; skills in operating a variety of hand and power tools; and the ability to read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports and forms. Other job-related requirements include responding to emergencies, working with or around Department of Corrections inmates, obtaining certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Intermediate Level within one year, and possessing a valid Class "E" driver's license and obtaining a Class "B" CDL with air brakes within 10 months. Minimum qualifications include possessing a valid Class "E" driver's license and obtaining a Class "B" CDL with air brakes within 10 months.
