Director Of Corporate Tax
The Director of Corporate Tax will lead the global tax function with a strategic and execution-driven approach, providing enterprise-wide oversight of tax strategy, compliance, reporting, and risk management. This role carries significant responsibility for developing and implementing sales and use tax strategies across a complex, multi-entity, and multi-jurisdictional structure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in U.S. federal and state tax, indirect tax (sales and use), tax technology, and cross-functional collaboration. As a key advisor to executive leadership, the Director will play a critical role in shaping and optimizing the company's global tax strategy in alignment with ongoing growth and expansion.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a comprehensive global tax strategy aligned with the company's growth, operational goals, and regulatory environment
- Advise senior leadership on tax implications of strategic transactions, including M&A, restructurings, expansions, and cross-border initiatives
- Drive long-term tax planning to optimize the company's effective tax rate, support liquidity, and minimize risk
- Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns, including consolidated corporate returns and unitary filings
- Lead the quarterly and annual income tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740, including FIN 48 reserves and valuation allowances
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state tax laws while maintaining full audit readiness
- Coordinate tax audits and inquiries from regulatory authorities, mitigating risk through accurate documentation and effective positioning
- Lead the strategic oversight and operational execution of sales and use tax compliance across all applicable jurisdictions
- Monitor evolving nexus rules and ensure timely registration, collection, remittance, and reporting of indirect taxes across states
- Oversee the implementation, configuration, and optimization of tax automation systems (e.g., Avalara, Vertex) integrated with ERP platforms
- Build internal controls and documentation to support a robust sales and use tax audit defense strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, IT, Finance Operations, and Legal to ensure proper tax treatment of complex transactions
- Build and maintain tax governance frameworks to manage risk, ensure internal controls, and support SOX compliance
- Lead transfer pricing documentation and policy development in coordination with legal and international teams.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation and policy changes, proactively advising leadership on emerging risks or opportunities
- Lead and develop a high-performing tax team; mentor staff and foster a culture of accountability and technical excellence
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Business Units on cross-functional initiatives with tax implications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain a working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 1271, FDA 21 CFR 820, AATB standards, ISO Standards, cGMP / CGTP, other relevant regulations / standards, and internal organizational policies and standard operating procedures
- Review and approve reimbursement requests for operational staff
- Manage direct reports
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to develop leadership in direct reports and department management
- Establish and monitor objective annual goals for direct reports
- Conduct performance reviews and establish performance improvement plans as needed
- Recruit, interview, and select personnel for hire
- Travel domestically up to 15% to attend offsite meetings, conferences, and support business initiatives
- Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality for scheduled work hours and meetings. Ensure completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities within defined timeframes
- Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours during weekdays or weekends with reasonable advance notice to support business / operational needs when necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned

High school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, from an accredited college or university requiredMaster's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, from an accredited college or university preferredCPA strongly preferredAt least 10 year(s) of experience in progressive tax experience, including leadership of corporate and indirect tax functions within complex, multi-entity organizations or related field requiredAssociate's degree (or 60 credit hours) may be substituted to meet up to 2 years of experience requirementsBachelor's degree may be substituted to meet up to 4 years of experience requirementsMaster's degree may be substituted to meet up to 6 years of experience requirementsClearance of favorable background investigation required
