Payroll / Certified Payroll Specialist
PrideStaff Financial is working with a Sacramento based company in search of a union and non-union payroll specialist. In this role the ideal candidate will have previous experience ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment of employee wages and benefits as well as payroll reporting.
Key Responsibilities and Skills :
- Utilize payroll software to process payroll, generate reports, and maintain records.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as labor regulations.
- Respond to employee inquiries about pay, deductions, and other payroll-related matters.
- Assist with payroll audits, prepare financial statements, and generate reports for tax and regulatory purposes.
- Certified Payroll Reporting (if applicable) : Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for government contracts, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws.
- Accurately enter and manage payroll data, including employee information, pay rates, and deductions.
- Process new employee hires, updates, and terminations, ensuring accuracy in payroll systems.
- Maintain and update employee personnel files and documentation.
- Accurately calculate wages, including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions like taxes, insurance, and retirement contributions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate payroll records, including time sheets, payment information, and tax records.
Required Skills and Knowledge :
Proficiency in using payroll software and systems. DIR Reporting and LCPtracker a must.Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations related to payroll.Understanding of basic accounting principles, especially as they relate to payroll.Strong mathematical skills for accurate calculations.Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Strong communication skills to interact with employees and other departments.Highly detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in payroll processing.Ability to handle sensitive payroll information with confidentiality.Understanding of prevailing wage laws, especially if working on government contracts.Benefits :
