We are hiring a Multimedia Journalist to join the FOX 5 DC Team.

The Multimedia Journalist will curate, produce, and host live coverage of breaking news and important events as they happen, giving users an in-the-moment view of what is going on right now. This position is based in Bethesda, MD.

The person we are looking for lives and breathes to break national news and report on history as it unfolds, live as it happens. If that's you, we need you on our team.

Primary Responsibilities : Gather, produce, and present original content live, including breaking news and coverage of major news events, on digital, social, streaming and broadcast platforms nationwide. Simultaneously manage content and live video production, including video switching and graphics. Monitor live video feeds, newsgathering tools, and social media for the latest information and content. Stay up to date on news and current events. Pitch story ideas and contribute to editorial process. Monitor real-time analytics. Adhere to journalistic standards. Assist in planning. Produce for other Multimedia Journalists. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements : 3+ years of experience reporting and hosting live news coverage on digital and social platforms preferred. BA / BS degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field. Excellent live communicator with the ability to host continuous coverage over extended periods. Tech-savvy multitasker with strong knowledge of the technical aspects of digital news production, including live streaming and video publishing. Experience operating a TriCaster or similar video production system a plus. Proficient in tools used for web-based newsgathering tools, content creation and monitoring digital analytics. Superior news judgement. Social media expert. Overwhelming attention to detail. Thrive under pressure. Varied hours including weekends and holidays.

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24 / 7 operation. Candidates must have flexibility in scheduling evenings, early mornings, weekends as well as work all shifts in a 24 / 7 / 365 breaking news environment. Local / national travel. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and varied hours. Candidate will also be required to join the SAG-AFTRA Washington-Mid Atlantic Local union for the on-air news unit.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate / range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $52.90-67.30 per hour. Must work cohesively with producers, editors and photographers to

create captivating news stories and features, taped and live, to connect with the viewers and grow ratings. Must be able to work accurately and efficiently within time constraints. Work with social media to attract, inform and engage the audience. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate their success at developing and maintaining powerful story source networks.

Requirements : Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, or related field required. 3+ years of news experience in a medium to large market. Recent experience and proficiency with newsroom computers, live news technology, and related software required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Edit ENG material for various newscasts under specific time constraints using state-of-the-art, non-linear editing equipment.

Work in a graphics-intense, high-production value, fast-paced news environment.

Understand what elements go into good storytelling and apply appropriate techniques into daily work.

Work closely with producers, reporters, and other newsroom staff and departments about current stories, show rundowns, feeds, live shots, etc.

Must be professional and respectful.

REQUIREMENTS

HS diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.

Minimum six (6) months of broadcast / news or related editing experience required.

Must have a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere editing platform. Familiarity with Bitcentral newsroom system and iNews preferred.

Excellent non-linear editing, audio, and computer skills.

Ability to exercise judgment to select and edit shots, video, and audio for newscasts.

Strong communication and decision-making skills.

Creative and detail-oriented.

Superior news judgment.

Must be a self-starter and able to work efficiently in fast-paced surroundings, both independently and as a team member.

Will cross-train into other areas of the news operation as needed.
