We're looking for an Operational Technology Assistant Group Leader to play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and innovation of the District's SCADA and control systems.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a skilled team of Electronics & Instrumentation Technicians while maintaining your own technical expertise. You'll collaborate across departments, drive continuous improvement, and help shape the future of the District's digital infrastructure.

What You'll Do

As the Operational Technology Assistant Group Leader , you'll :

Lead and mentor Technician II and III staff working on electronics, instrumentation, legacy security systems, and SCADA design and maintenance.

Plan and manage preventive maintenance programs, including procurement and vendor coordination.

Work hands-on with SCADA, PLCs, and control systems to maintain system reliability.

Collaborate with leadership to set group and District goals, implement policies, and align projects with strategic objectives.

Serve as the District's SCADA Manager , coordinating closely with IT and operational teams on automation and network systems.

Oversee performance and development of technical staff, including hiring, training, and evaluation.

Assist in budgeting and preparing reports on performance, safety, and productivity.

Participate in on-call rotations , respond to emergencies, and support operations outside of normal business hours when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, plus completion of a technical program in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field .

At least five years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas : electronics, instrumentation, Control Expert PLC programming, automation / control systems, or iFix SCADA programming.

Valid Utah Driver's License.

Utah Grade IV Water Distribution or Treatment certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or related field.

Supervisory or lead experience in a technical operations environment.

Advanced knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, and industrial network communications.

Skills & Expertise

Strong working knowledge of computer hardware, networks, and security systems .

Expertise using and calibrating instrumentation and testing equipment (e.g., transmitters, flow meters, analyzers).

Proficiency in SCADA, RTU, and PLC troubleshooting and programming.

Solid understanding of water treatment processes and hydraulics.

Advanced analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with CMMS, spreadsheet, and programming software.

Excellent communication, leadership, and team coordination abilities.

Work Schedule & Environment

Schedule : Monday-Friday, 6 : 00 a.m.-4 : 30 p.m. (flexible schedule may be approved).

On-Call : Rotational participation required.

Work Environment : Office and field-based; exposure to outdoor conditions, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.

Travel : Occasional, for training or project needs.

Remote Work Eligible : Yes

Vehicle Take-Home Eligible : Yes (Daily use)
