Primary Responsibilities :
Leadership & Data Governance
- Lead project work related to Teradata Database and data governance
- Coordinate with teams and customers to meet business, security, and reporting needs.
- Participate in agile development environments and large-scale DDI projects. System Administration & Maintenance
- Manage and maintain OnPrem Teradata systems and working with Teradata (as needed) including patches, upgrades, configurations, resolving / fixing vulnerabilities, and hardware replacements.
- Monitor system health using Viewpoint and other tools; perform preventive and corrective actions.
- Support disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and quarterly maintenance.
- Coordinate with Teradata and subcontractors for system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
Database Operations & Optimization
Perform backup and recovery operations using BAR DSA and NetBackup.Monitor and tune performance, capacity, and resource usage (CPU, I / O, Spool, Storage).Maintain workload management using TASM and Workload Manager partitions.Administer access rights, role rights, priority scheduling, and security reporting. Development Support & GovernanceGuide developers on design and implementation best practices; review / approve database components.Support EDW users with query optimization, job handling, and data integrity issues.Maintain and administer OpenText BI-Query models and front-end tools.Lead database-related meetings and deliverables with minimal supervision. Reporting & ComplianceGenerate and maintain capacity and performance reports.Support internal and IRS audits; address risks and vulnerabilities proactively.Communicate system alerts, risks, and status updates to stakeholders.Ensure compliance with SCSEM and other security evaluation frameworks.Functional Description :
The Sr DBA Lead is a lead role on our team responsible for the overall database delivery of the Enterprise Data Warehouse for the Medicaid agency including application and system tasks. It is a critical role involving expertise in working with Medicaid data itself, data governance, security, supporting and maintaining hardware and software, configuring Teradata, setting up new environments, and ensuring we are achieving the optimal performance. For example, the DBA is expected to provide a wide range of expertise including the ability to help a user to fetch data (requiring business knowledge) and the technical ability to lead a major Teradata upgrade and complete complex Teradata software system configurations.
Analyzes current business practices, processes and procedures as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. Manages relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential architectural impact of different vendor strategies and data acquisition. May design schemas, write SQL or other data markup scripting, and
helps to support development of Analytics and Applications that build on top of data. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.7+ years as a lead Teradata DBA (Version 15+) with application and system responsibilities.Experience with on premises Teradata 6800 / 1800 or IntelliFlex systems.Expert in SQL skills and Teradata utilities (FastLoad, Multiload, FastExport, BTEQ, TPT).Proven performance tuning experience in large databases (>5TB).
Data governance experience and supporting metadata management.Healthcare / Medicaid / Government or equivalent project experience.System administration knowledge / experience (in addition to application DBA and SQL expertise).Lead experience with clear demonstration of leadership tasks like presentation to customers, capacity planning, and performance management.Large Design Development and Implementation (DDI) project experienceExperience in database specification development and issue resolution.Excellent communication, client-facing, and mentoring skills.Preferred Qualifications :
Teradata Vantage Certified Master.Data modeling experience (Erwin or similar).Experience with OpenText BI-Query, metadata management, and data governance.Familiarity with Medicaid / Medicare / Healthcare applications.Experience in agile environments (Scrum, DevOps, GitHub).Application server administration (Windows / Linux).Open Text BI Query adminData modeling experienceETL development knowledge / experience or data analysis experienceCloud migration experience (especially related to Snowflake, Azure)Central region or willingness to travel monthly / quarterly or on an as-needed basisNo visa sponsorship requiredLocated within two hours of Springfield, IL
