Job Title : Mechanical Design Engineer
Location : Indianapolis, IN (Onsite)
Duration : 6-month contract with possible extension
Clearance : Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Base pay range : $70.00 / hr - $74.00 / hr

Description
- Seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN, supporting development of advanced airborne systems, including podded communication link and sensor systems, airborne armament equipment, alternate mission equipment, cockpit displays, avionics, and radar systems.
- Support the integration of new and existing systems onto airborne, shipborne, and ground vehicles.
- Work across a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career within the DoD customer base.
- Develop new products and test hardware, and improve existing products across proposal / concept evaluation, product development, production, and qualification testing phases.
- Create design solutions using 3-D CAD modeling, and participate hands-on in production, integration, and testing.
- Develop solutions that leverage commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware; research and distill information from vendors; support design reviews, equipment integration, profiling, and testing.
- Collaborate with the project team, including lead mechanical, systems, electrical, and test engineers; communicate effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism.
- Location on-site in Indianapolis and contribute to a variety of DoD programs and products.

Ability to work onsite at the Indianapolis, Indiana facility with an Integrated Product Team; hands-on with hardware and prototyping.Minimum of two years of professional work experience.Experience in design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies.Strong planning, organizational skills, and adaptability to changing priorities.Experience capturing key characteristics & requirements for systems; performing trade studies.Self-starter with quick learning ability; good time management and ability to function in a dynamic environment.Strong teaming and communication skills.Competence in one or more areas : Aircraft Structures Design, Ground Structures Design, Electronics Packaging, or Platform Integration.Mfg. Methods : Competent; Requirements : Competent.Desired Skills
Design, integration, or test experience in combinations related to airborne podded systems, airborne armament or alternate mission equipment, radar systems, mobile ground systems, ground vehicle structures, and related electronics.Prototyping and agile methodology (quick turn solutions); understanding of manufacturing / fabrication of non-exotic materials; structural design considerations.Education Requirements
