Position Overview
Seeking a Concrete Estimator with experience in heavy civil construction , particularly water / wastewater treatment plants (WTP / WWTP) . This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, strategic, and ready to work on high-impact public and private projects.
What You'll Do
Project Estimating
- Review blueprints, specs, geotechnical reports, and addenda
- Perform accurate takeoffs : concrete, rebar, formwork, embeds, accessories
- Create detailed cost estimates across all phases of concrete work
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
Bid Management
Lead the whole bid process, from takeoff to final proposalAttend pre-bid meetings and site visitsCommunicate with GCs, engineers, and owners for clarificationRisk & Value Analysis
Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunitiesRecommend cost-saving alternatives and schedule efficienciesTeam Collaboration
Work hand-in-hand with PMs, field leaders, and operationsSupport seamless project handoffs with thorough documentationSoftware & Tools :
Use estimating software such as HeavyBid , HCSS , Bluebeam , On-Screen Takeoff (OST) , and Microsoft Excel.Leverage 3D models and digital tools when available.Qualifications :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent work experience.Minimum 5+ years of concrete estimating experience in heavy civil or industrial construction.Proven experience with water / wastewater treatment plants , pump stations, and large civil structures.Technical Skills :
Strong knowledge of concrete construction techniques and sequencing.Ability to interpret complex drawings, specs, and contract documents.Familiarity with local codes, labor rates, and union / non-union labor considerations.Soft Skills :
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.High attention to detail and analytical problem-solving.Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with public works / government-funded infrastructure projects.OSHA 30 certification or other construction safety training.Professional affiliations (e.g., ACI, ASCE, CMAA) are a plus.Compensation & Benefits :
