The City of Riverside Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Helicopter Mechanic and Senior Helicopter Mechanic. The department is looking to fill one position in either classification based on experience.
Helicopter Mechanic – Annual Salary Range : $84,108.00 – $102,192.00
Senior Helicopter Mechanic – Annual Salary Range : $97,344.00 – $118,344.00

Responsibilities
Helicopter Mechanic – Reports to the Senior Aircraft Mechanic and the Aviation Unit Supervisor (Chief Pilot). Performs journey-level maintenance, inspection, and repair, both scheduled and unscheduled, of City-owned helicopters and related equipment in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations, aircraft manufacturer guidelines, and Police Department policies. May perform related work as required.
Senior Helicopter Mechanic – Leads and performs skilled, technical work in the maintenance and repair of City-owned helicopters and related equipment in accordance with FAA rules, manufacturer guidelines, and Police Department policies. This is an advanced journey-level position with responsibility for providing lead direction over lower-level mechanics, scheduling and estimating work, working with vendors and contractors, maintaining logbooks and maintenance records, and monitoring inventory of equipment, parts, and materials.
The Senior Helicopter Mechanic receives general supervision from the Police Sergeant (Aviation Unit Supervisor) and may exercise lead direction over Aircraft Mechanics, as assigned.

Education and Experience
Helicopter Mechanic
Education : High School graduation or equivalent (GED). Successful completion of a factory helicopter / aircraft maintenance-training course is highly desirable.
Experience : Three years of journey-level experience in inspection, repair, and maintenance of helicopters, aircraft, and related equipment. Highly desired qualification includes experience in inspection, repair, and maintenance of AS350.
Senior Helicopter Mechanic
Education : High School graduation or equivalent (GED). Successful completion of a factory helicopter or aircraft maintenance training course is highly desirable.
Experience : Four years of journey-level experience in inspection, repair, and maintenance of helicopters, aircraft, and related equipment.
Necessary Special Requirements
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work is performed in varied environments, indoors and outdoors, with exposure to temperature variations, noise, fumes, grease and oils, machinery, aircraft, moving parts, odors and dust. Physical demands include bending, stooping, and frequent heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction.
