Job Summary and Qualifications

The IR RN is an integral part of the Radiology Team. The major goal of the Radiology nurse is to provide exceptional quality nursing care to outpatientsand inpatientsin theradiology department. The Interventional RadiologyRN provides nursing carein accordance withestablished policies, procedures and protocols already developed for the healthcare organization.

The tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :

Assesses plans and evaluates the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after the invasiveprocedures.

Provides nursing care to the patient under goingthe invasiveprocedures.

Assists Radiologists during examinations and procedures.

Monitors, records andcommunicatespatient condition asappropriate utilizingcomputerized documentation systems.

Instructs and educates patients and families.

Provides age appropriate and culturallyappropriate care.

Orients and mentorsnew staffmembers.

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment asrequired.

Follows hospital policies around administration of sedation meds in compliance with competencies and licensure.
