Responsibilities Work in a 33-bed Intensive Care Unit within an acute hospital setting Primary patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2-3 for adults Patients range from high-acuity adult ICU needs including ventilator and advanced cardiac support RNs are required to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips Use and troubleshooting of ventilators, Cpap, BiPap, nasal cannula, and high-flow equipment Monitors and tele equipment (GE brand) used with tele tech oversight; RNs responsible for strip interpretation and documentation Floating required to PCU or MedSurg with appropriate patient ratios Night shifts are 12 hours (1830-0630); every other weekend required Must work a minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period Pass / fail open-book skills exam required during orientation; minimum score of 90% needed to continue assignment Travelers will have one shift of unit-specific orientation Artificial nails are not allowed; compliance is mandatory for continued employment Support staff includes nurse aides based on census, and healthcare support tech available weekdays Self-scheduling for core staff; travelers will be added as needed but block scheduling is not guaranteed, except possibly for weekends Must submit all time-off requests (maximum 7 days per contract) up front; no additions or changes permitted after assignment acceptance Must wear hospital-approved scrubs Requirements Active NE or compact state RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not accepted Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required; pending certifications not accepted Experience with EPIC EMR preferred Ability to titrate a variety of IV drips and monitor advanced cardiac and respiratory support equipment Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, confirmed with a valid driver’s license Candidates must not be currently or recently (within one year) employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in a full-time, part-time, or PRN capacity Professional references required : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627953.
