Summary of Job Duties :
The Coordinator for Leadership Programs is a member of the Student Involvement and Leadership (SIL) staff, responsible for planning, managing, and assessing programs and initiatives that engage, support, and connect students with leadership opportunities. This position develops and coordinates comprehensive leadership development programs that enhance student learning, foster skill development, and promote social responsibility.
The coordinator plays a critical role in cultivating a sense of belonging for students across all classifications (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate). Key responsibilities include coordinating signature leadership programs such as the Graduating Student Leaders recognition, Student Leader of the Month, outreach events, and maintaining a campus-wide database of leadership opportunities. In addition, the coordinator will manage logistics and execution of Razorbash (vendor and business fair) and facilitate the Arkansas Legacy Leaders Cohort Program.
The coordinator will collaborate closely with academic and student affairs partners in the design, development, marketing, and implementation of programs that advance student leadership. This position also manages budgets, oversees financial processes, and conducts program assessments that strengthen the department's focus on leadership development. As a member of the SIL team and the broader Student Engagement unit within the Division of Student Affairs, the Coordinator will actively contribute to departmental and divisional initiatives.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance, along with the ability to build and maintain collaborative, collegial working relationships, are essential to the role.
Minimum Qualifications :
The formal educational equivalent of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Event Planning Experience
Experience implementing student programs and activities
Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications :
Direct experience developing and evaluating leadership / event programs
Experience with event planning and program management in higher education
Experience supervising undergraduate students in leadership positions
Proficient knowledge and skill using computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of event planning and evaluation
Time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
