We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team on a contract basis in San Rafael, California. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can oversee comprehensive bookkeeping operations, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and deliver timely and accurate financial reports. Responsibilities :
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including journal entries, adjustments, and monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including billing, invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Prepare detailed financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, for management review.
- Oversee payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate payments while adhering to federal and state regulations.
- Handle tax filings, including sales tax and property tax, and assist with documentation for income tax returns.
- Assist in budgeting activities and provide financial insights to support strategic planning.
- Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and ensure compliance across all processes.
- Supervise and provide guidance to bookkeeping staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or QuickBooks Certification are advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in small-to-medium-sized businesses or accounting firms.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Xero, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of financial principles and familiarity with handling multi-entity financials.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
- Solid knowledge of payroll processes and tax compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with management and external auditors.
