Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in ICU.

The facility has a Level 1 Trauma Designation.

It is a teaching hospital and has a chest pain center and stroke center.

Each ICU unit contains 10-20 beds.

The position will involve caring for patients in various ICU units.

Common patient types include critical care, medical, surgical trauma, neuro, cardiovascular, and progressive care patients.

The patient-to-nurse ratio in the ICU is 1 : 1-2, and in the progressive care unit, it is 1 : 3-4.

The nurse will be assisted by CNAs, who will help with vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, and patient safety.

Unit secretaries will be present from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and there will be a resource team available.

Respiratory therapy and hospitalist services are available 24 / 7.

Telemetry monitoring is performed, and RNs will be responsible for signing off on telemetry strips.

The facility uses an electronic medical record system and has various equipment, such as IV pumps and monitors.

Travelers will be required to float to other medical and telemetry units as needed.

Shifts will include some weekend rotations and holiday expectations.

Requests for time off must be approved by management.

The culture of the unit is busy and team-oriented.
