Summary :
Join our dedicated team as a Phlebotomist and Lab Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring exceptional patient care through proficient phlebotomy and laboratory support practices. As part of our team, you will perform all necessary phlebotomy and lab assistant procedures, including client processing and client services representative functions, under the supervision of the assigned Leader.
Responsibilities :
- Demonstrate commitment to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Exhibit excellent customer service, adhering to AIDET principles and Standards of Behavior.
- Train and conduct competency assessments for all Phlebotomist and laboratory assistant staff.
- Monitor and address collection reports and associated paperwork and computer functions.
- Utilize centrifuges to prepare blood specimens, ensuring their quality and readiness for external testing.
- Maintain active oversight of the collection area to ensure timely specimen collection, assisting where necessary.
- Handle inquiries and maintain professionalism while providing accurate responses to technical questions from clients and healthcare professionals.
- Communicate patient care issues and physician-related complaints to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Perform clerical and client processing duties as assigned.
- Enter orders, process specimens, and manage related laboratory records effectively.
- Ensure timely initiation of specimen collections and monitor pending tasks while resolving issues promptly.
- Collaborate actively as a team member to ensure all patient-related testing and reporting are completed on time.
- Control inventory by monitoring supply levels, restocking, and reporting when items reach reorder status.
- Compliance with safety, infection control, and security protocols and procedures in a healthcare setting.
- Show flexibility in work schedules, including rotating shifts and changing assignments as needed.
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
High school diploma or GED preferredCompletion of a Clinical Phlebotomy training program or equivalent requiredBilingual in English / Spanish is preferredExperience
Required : 2-5 years of phlebotomy, technical, and clerical experiencePreferred : 5+ years of phlebotomy, technical, and clerical experienceLicenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is preferredPhlebotomy Tech (PBT) certification or State licensure in Louisiana is preferredAll associates must obtain the required certifications as per the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy.
