Speech Language Pathologist
Salary : $110,000 to $120,000
Location : Bay City & Wharton areas
Position Overview
The Speech Language Pathologist provides therapy services to patients in their homes, following physician orders and an approved plan of care. The goal is to restore speech and / or auditory functions, reduce or correct pathology, and help patients achieve skills for productive living.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial evaluations and develop treatment plans for physician approval.
- Deliver a full range of speech-language pathology services as prescribed.
- Write progress notes for each visit, reevaluations, and discharge summaries.
- Consult with physicians on treatment changes and patient progress.
- Educate patients and families on home programs and daily living activities.
- Participate in care planning with other healthcare professionals.
- Complete all required documentation (assessments, reassessments, ICD-9 coding) within agency timelines.
- Attend patient care conferences and in-service programs.
- Supervise home health aides as assigned.
Requirements
Experience : 2 years in home / community speech-language pathology preferred.Education : Graduate in Speech Pathology or Audiology; may include candidates completing supervised experience for certification.Licensing : Must hold a Texas license and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.Skills : Strong verbal / nonverbal communication, supervisory ability, independent judgment, and initiative.Physical : Ability to meet physical demands (standing, walking, lifting) and work in a busy environment.Additional Details
Reports to : Director of Nursing.Heavy interaction with patients, families, physicians, and third-party payers.Must adhere to agency standards, dress code, and ethical expectations.Required equipment may include stethoscope, BP cuffs, and therapy materials.
