Sprinkler Design Manager

Overview

Sprinkler Design Manager at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety. This position provides leadership for the team of Sprinkler Designers and is responsible for the quality and timeliness of all design work within the department, as well as providing support to the sales and operations teams. Pay Range : $90K-$130K. Hybrid office flexibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, lead, manage, direct, develop, and motivate individuals and the team. Maximize productivity of design personnel and manage staff performance and conflicts with successful outcomes.
• Create and implement procedures, standards, and process improvements to enhance quality and timeliness of design work. Provide recommendations to executive management regarding equipment, personnel needs / changes, and the strategic direction for the department.
• Ensure strict adherence to the Operational Excellence program. Assist designers in working with sales, operations, and other design staff to interpret project specifications.
• Develop project timelines, plan, schedule and assign sprinkler design work.
• Oversee the production of detailed design documents from project specifications, architectural drawings, and code requirements using AutoCAD and other software.
• Provide senior level technical assistance as needed.
• Review drawings and stock lists to perform quality and process checks and identify issues that need further discussion or modification.
• Ensure proper reporting on design project progression. Facilitate weekly Design Department meetings and provide status updates, issues encountered, manpower, labor consumption, and percent complete vs. schedule.
• Ensure the department provides timely and accurate entries into operating systems and updates Compass regularly.
• Perform other duties as required and / or assigned by executive management.
• Build and maintain a cohesive team atmosphere with design personnel and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with project managers, superintendents, fabrication shop management, suppliers, executive staff, and all support functions within S&S / Pye-Barker.
• Serve as a senior internal and external technical resource for all company offices.
