Job description

The Senior EHS Manager will work with communities across the country. LCS has 140 communities across 33 states including 37,000 beds and 28,000 employees at these communities. As the Senior EHS Safety Manager, you will assist a specific group of communities in identifying, developing, and implementing portfolio wide safety strategies, programs, and practices. You will employ best-in-class strategies to mitigate risk, reduce the frequency and severity of injuries to guests, employees, residents, third parties and assure compliance with applicable safety regulations.

The Role :

PRIMARY DUTIES (80%) :

  • Establish a sustainable EHS system at each community
  • Identify unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace.
  • Perform audits to ensure best practices are in place and adhered to in daily operations.
  • Act as a liaison and professional resource to operations management for risk and safety related matters
  • Provide training and education to reduce workplace hazards and exposures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accident prevention strategies for safety and injury prevention programs with the goal of reducing accidents and workers’ compensation claim expenses.
  • Respond to compliance matters related to OSHA citations and other regulatory matters related to safety and risk matters

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SAFETY (10%) :

  • Oversee the completion of electrical safety projects across the LCS portfolio. These projects entail NFPA 72 arc flash requirements including the arc flash analysis and the infrared scanning of electrical panels and equipment.
  • Oversee the completion of machine specific lockout / tagout procedure development projects across the LCS portfolio
  • Collaborate with the LCS Development division on safety related issues to encourage to facilitate them being incorporated into new projects
  • EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & LIFE SAFETY (10%) :

  • Maintain the LCS Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan template to meet current CMS regulatory requirements
  • Assist with hurricane preparedness activities at communities with primary responsibility. Assist with hurricane preparedness, response and recovery calls across the LCS portfolio
  • Review disaster preparedness manuals and Life Safety inspections at communities
  • Experience and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management or related field from a regionally accredited college / university
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive safety and health experience in corporate, healthcare, hospitality, insurance, or related environments.
  • Hold the Certified Safety Professional designation (CSP).
  • Experience with developing, implementing, preparing for, and leading disaster mitigation policies.
  • Knowledge and skills :

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA Regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA, DOT and Life Safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge of workers’ compensation principals and proven results of improving workers’ compensation losses within an organization.
  • Capable of delivering measurable results through a position of influence
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and manage at all levels of the organization
  • Previous EHS responsibilities at multi-site locations.

    Estimated Salary Range :   $140,000 - $160,000
