Summary

This Special Duty or Term-Limited Temporary role is open to all King County employees and the public and is expected to be 24 months in duration.

King County Information Technology - Software Quality Assurance (QA) team is looking for two QA Specialists to work closely with project managers, business analysts, vendors and developers to test agreed upon application functionality. The QA Specialists will create and execute test cases to fully exercise all functionality within a development project. The QA Specialists are also responsible for developing test plans for projects of varying size, scope, and complexity in order to deliver high-quality systems on schedule. In addition, the QA Specialists will also document and track all defects, as well as giving a final assessment of quality before product release.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate exceptional strategic thinking, combining a big-picture perspective with an attention to detail to identify viable solutions and proactively mitigate risk.

Job Duties

  • Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into test plans and test cases to execute against applications delivered by the development team.
  • Log bugs and facilitate bug triages with key members of the development team.
  • Document test cases, test runs, test case results, and deliver test execution reports.
  • Validate bug fixes.
  • Work directly with software developers, business analysts, project managers, and product owners to ensure the delivery of high-quality applications.
  • Participate in sprint planning by analyzing scope, evaluating requirements and risks, and providing estimates for test deliverables.
  • Conduct testing on multiple browsers and platforms - including desktop, mobile, and networked devices.
  • Conduct testing on client-server applications running over wired and wireless networks on Windows, Android, and / or iPhone platforms.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

We would like to hear from you if you possess :

  • Associate's degree and two or more years' professional testing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four or more years of Software Testing experience (preferably Web-based).
  • One or more years of experience testing on Mac, Windows, iOS and / or Android operating systems.
  • Experience in analyzing business / functional requirements to create test strategy and test cases.
  • Experience with bug tracking tools or ticketing systems like Microsoft Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.
  • Deep understanding of Web technologies (server / browser, Edge / Chrome / Safari, JSP, JavaScript and other scripting languages)
  • Experience with querying databases (Oracle, SQL).
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum development processes.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.

  • Knowledge of Scrum / Agile SDLC practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of ADA compliance (WCAG 2.0), performance, load, and security / penetration testing methodologies for web applications.

    Hybrid Work

    KCIT works as a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is the Chinook Building 401 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104, USA.

    Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

    King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

    Work Schedule

    The normal work week for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
