Summary
King County's Department of Local Services (DLS) Director's Office is seeking an Administrator I to provide administrative and program support for the External Relations Team which includes the Community Service Areas, Economic Development, and Participatory Budgeting programs. You will have the opportunity to engage with community members, put your organizational and administrative skills to work, learn about grant processes, and be exposed to the exciting, groundbreaking, community-led efforts of the Department of Local Services. You will help uphold our county's true north values. This position supports the County's policy of being anti- racist and seeking to transform programming and service delivery that has historically harmed, neglected or excluded Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).
The ideal candidate for this role will be exceptionally well-organized, have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable working in ambiguous environments and taking direction from multiple team members, be a self-starter who has excellent interpersonal skills, a keen attention to detail, an ability to stay focused in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, and a passion for equity and social justice.
KEY PROJECTS :
Department of Local Services Community Grants :
The Department of Local Services Programs offers various community grants for community organizations, businesses and residents. The Administrator position would help support our grant processes by supporting project managers through inputting information into our grant management system, managing files, answering questions from community about our grant programs, sending correspondence to applicants and grant winners, reviewing grant applications to ensure all documents are included, coordinating grant review committee meetings, sending out award and report notices.
Department of Local Services Participatory Budgeting Program :
In 2021, King County implemented its first ever participatory budgeting process. To date King County has completed two cycles of participatory budgeting for five urban unincorporated areas (East Renton, East Federal Way, Fairwood, Skyway / West Hill, and White Center / North Highline) identifying 79 community inspired projects investing over $20 million dollars.
This position will provide administrative and program support to the Participatory Budgeting Program, and other External Programs. Duties primarily include assisting the program manager with program administration, contract administration, community meeting facilitation support, volunteer coordination, and working as an integral part of the Participatory Budgeting Team to plan, organize, and report back on program updates. Other duties may include developing tracking systems and materials in support of the Participatory Budgeting Program, coordinating with department administrative and program staff, and other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule : The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. However, flexibility is essential, as the role may require work during evenings and weekends to accommodate meetings and program needs outside of regular business hours.
This role is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is therefore eligible for overtime compensation, subject to prior supervisor approval.
Union Membership : This position is non-represented.
Teleworking Requirement : This is a hybrid position. The work associated with this position will be performed by teleworking, onsite work and meetings as needed. The responsibilities of this position will include regular and ongoing in-office work. Primary work locations include King Street Center and Skyway Resource Center, with occasional travel between sites as needed. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
