Comp : $25 to $30 per hour

Work will be primarily performed onsite at our office or remotely by telecommuting from your home office 2 - 4 days per week. Employee will utilize personal phone or internet services to perform telecommuting with reimbursement. Occasional travel to and work from other Race offices or other off-site locations may be required.

Position Impact :

The Safety Associate is responsible for identifying and assessing potential risks and hazards in the workplace or any other setting and develops strategies to mitigate them. Your work involves collecting and analyzing data related to incidents, accidents, and injuries, and using this information to identify patterns and trends that may indicate underlying risks.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • A valid California driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory
  • Minimum of one-year related experience in the Telecommunication industry, and / or equivalent work environments is required
  • Fundamental safety and / or compliance professional certification OSHA 10 Certification and OSHA 30 Certification is preferred- if you do not have these certifications, we will provide training and support
  • Proven ability to conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred, with the ability to perform basic first aid during emergency situations- if you do not have these certifications, we will provide training and support
  • The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication
  • Proficiency in Spanish Language is desirable

Skills :

  • Proficient use of MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications
  • Functional use of common office equipment, computers, and office software
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

    Safety Program Support

  • Assists in monitoring safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries; assists in minimizing overall workers’ compensation costs
  • Supports the Race Communications Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP) and COVID‐19 Prevention Program (CPP)
  • Emergency Response

  • Provides emergency medical assistance such as basic first aid to assist individuals in distress
  • Compliance and Policy Enforcement

  • Communicates and monitors safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations
  • Monitors fire prevention and response activities
  • Incident Investigation and Management

  • Assists with the investigation of all accidents and injuries, performs root‐cause analysis, recommends and / or proposes corrective actions; Assists in the management of Workers’ Compensation, insurance claims, and legal proceedings
  • Reviews and responds to OSHA / safety‐related inquiries
  • Hazard Identification and Reporting

  • Identifies potential safety hazards at all facilities; reports hazards and recommendations for eliminating / reducing to management
  • Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepares and maintains required safety reports
  • Attends company safety meetings and maintains relevant documentation
  • Safety Promotion

  • Promotes safe and healthy working conditions and establishes constant safe practices by all employee
  • Equipment Operations and Site Maintenance :

  • Operates mechanized equipment such as a bucket truck, excavators, and trencher
  • Climbs poles up to 40 feet and operates in bucket trucks with 32’ plus ladders-Aerial ONLY
  • Manages deployment and removal of traffic control devices to ensure safety in work areas on streets or roadways
  • Adheres to and operates within the weight capacity limits specified by manufacturers for equipment and machinery :
  • Bucket Truck : 350-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity
  • Ladders : 300-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Travel :

  • Maintains vehicle / equipment pre-op / post-op to be prepared to perform required duties
  • Maintains a clean driving record as defined by the current fleet insurance underwriter
  • Spends a significant portion of the workday traveling in a vehicle visiting various locations and spending time both indoors and outdoors including businesses and / or residents depending on the nature of the job
  • May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed
  • Safety Awareness and Compliance :

  • Observes hazards and reports any concerns or accidents to a supervisor or safety professional; participates in the investigation process as needed
  • Understands, completes, and signs off all pre-job safety planning tools at the start and end of the shift; completes all required safety-related paperwork
  • Understands and responds appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (e.g., back-up alarms, smell of smoke, fumes, odors, different colored warning tags, warning sirens)
  • Upholds a secure work environment by adhering to regulations, procedures, and company policies, ensuring safety standards are consistently maintained
  • Other duties as assigned.
