DSP must work with compassion, patience, good work ethic, dependability, honesty.
A DSP is an individual who will be working with individuals with developmental disabilities. They will :
- Assist individual with their daily living needs.
- Assist individual with their personal hygiene care.
- Teach individual life skills by providing love and compassion.
- Assist with Increasing Community Participation (such as daily errands, attending events, restaurant, purchasing items, travel training, etc.)
- Assist with Increasing Independence (such as helping the individual learn to do laundry, cook, clean, dress, grocery shop, pay for items, etc.)
- Assist with Learning Activities (such as basic tutoring – math, reading, writing; support in attending a class; etc.)
- Assist with On-The-Job Support (such as safety awareness, using the restroom, attending to task, lunch / breaks, etc.)
We have cases available in Union, Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, and Essex counties.
DSP's will also undergo, or must have priorly completed additional training / prerequisites including the following.
Minimum 18 years of age – AND –Complete State / Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checksValid driver’s license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points) if driving is requiredComplete approved CPR and Safety Training and produce documentation.CARI check completion within 10 days of start of serviceDrug Testing per Stephen Komnino’s Law prior to start of serviceStephen Komnino’s’ Law Training via CDS prior to start of serviceDanielle’s Law Training via the CDS prior to start of serviceCompletion of CDS DDD mandatory training bundle within 90 dates of hireEXPERIENCE PREFERRED!Job Types : Full-time, Part-time, Commission
