The Radiologic Technologist / Medical Assistant dual role focuses on producing high-quality diagnostic images of patients using medical imaging equipment. They work under the supervision of a radiologist to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions. This role involves patient positioning, equipment operation, radiation safety, and maintaining accurate records. The Radiologic Technologist / Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the clinical healthcare team and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with health care of patients.
Perform diagnostic X-ray exams in compliance with PA state guidelines and facility protocols
Ensure accurate positioning, image quality, and patient safety using ALARA principles
Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
Maintain and operate various radiographic imaging equipment, report maintenance needs
Ensure proper settings and optimal image quality
Implement radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to both patients and them.
Capture images, evaluate their quality, and ensure they meet diagnostic standards.
Upload images to PACS and document imaging in EMR systems
Maintain accurate and complete records of patient exams and images.
Comply with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and infection control
Room patients, record vitals, medical histories, and chief complaints
Assist with minor procedures, exams, and patient preparation
Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs. Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assist physicians with procedures. Document patient information into the medical record.
Prepare and restock exam rooms and maintain clean clinical environments
Support with scheduling, referrals, and documentation in the EMR (e.g., Epic or Athena)
Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and support staff
Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Clean exam / procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Clean according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records. Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam / procedure rooms.
Check schedules and organize patient flow. Accompany patients to exam / procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information / history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relay instructions to patients / families.
Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
Active ARRT certification
Current Pennsylvania Radiologic Technologist License
Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent)
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Strong interpersonal, multitasking, and EMR skills
