At Buttercup, you will be responsible for welcoming and greeting guests, supervising service, managing walk ins and booking systems while supporting the floor team. You will ensure Buttercup guests have an enjoyable experience from initial greeting to final farewell, and positively influence the FOH team to execute effective and efficient service. You will also be responsible for understanding, discussing and educating members and guests all menu items while also presenting an approachable and elevated experience by following Buttercup Service Standards. The host / shift leader plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of service and guest satisfaction.
A successful Buttercup host / shift leader maintains a positive and influential attitude, is obsessed with details, process driven and flexible while working under pressure to ensure seamless communication is maintained between the Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) team members.
A Buttercup team member holds themselves and their teammates accountable to the Buttercup service standards and values. A Buttercup bar team member is approachable, engaging, and polished!
Main Duties
- Act as extension of the management team by providing support to the operations and staff to make decisions and update management on staff performance, feedback and overall review of service
- Work varying shift times across the seven days, to include working weekends, opens & closes
- Maintain a sharp, neatly-groomed and polished appearance at all times
- Elevated, expert communication (verbal and written) skills
- Greet each guest with a genuine, approachable demeanor and warm hospitality
- Flexibility to handle unexpected situations with grace and poise
- Create a welcoming and refined atmosphere by maintaining a clean and organized host stand
- Graciously manage the waitlist during busy periods, providing accurate wait time estimates and keeping guests informed
- Escort guests to their tables, ensuring a smooth transition and explaining any unique aspects of the dining room layout.
- Answer questions about the menu, wine list, or any other aspects of the dining experience with confidence and knowledge
- Maintain clear communication with the service team to ensure seamless coordination and guest satisfaction
- Accommodate special requests whenever possible, such as seating preferences or dietary restrictions
- Partner with F&B leaders to ensure new team members are completing on-boarding checklist, all servers are taking breaks as well as create systems and put process in place to better support a more efficient and effective experience for staff and members / guests
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with all coworkers and management
- Positively influence members and guests experience by elevating the dining experience with friendly, knowledgable service
- Maintain communication and advise Management on any allergies or potential red flags encountered throughout the night
- Complete all check out reports at the end of each shift and have it double checked and signed by management
- Adhere to health and safety policies as well as all Buttercup policies, procedures, standards and local, state, and federal law as applicable
- Assist FOH team to support all table orders
- Clean and stock server alley and bar area, polish silverware, plates and / or glassware as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor / manager
Required Skills / Qualifications
