Stockton University announces a national search for a visionary, collaborative and forward-thinking leader to serve as the new Dean for the School of Education. Stockton is well-known for its holistic approach to student well-being and educational success, with much of that care delivered through direct faculty interaction and experiential learning. The School provides students a unique opportunity to learn from expert faculty in educational settings that include collaborations with undergraduate liberal arts programs, close partnerships with school districts, a regional 80-member in-service consortium, the Southern Regional Institute and Educational Technology Training Center (SRI & ETTC) and several online and hybrid graduate degree-granting programs. Stockton University, with locations in Galloway, Atlantic City, Hammonton, Manahawkin, and Woodbine, New Jersey, is a comprehensive public university with a strong dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The School offers pre-service teacher certification in collaboration with undergraduate degree programs in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Historical Studies, Languages and Culture Studies, Liberal Arts, Literature, Marine Science, Math, Physics, Political Science, Psychology and Studies in the Arts (Music and Visual Arts). In addition, the School offers a post-baccalaureate BA in Teacher Education, BA in Education and Human Development, Master of Arts in Education including graduate level endorsements (ESL / Bilingual, LDT / C, Reading Specialist, Special Education, NJ Supervisor & Principal), Master of Arts in Instructional Technology, and an Education Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. Descriptions of Essential Duties / Responsibilities :

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Education is expected to provide leadership and vision; foster high-quality academic programs; prioritize student academic success; develop and support faculty and staff; provide direction and leadership for academic programs; establish new relationships and enhance existing partnerships with community stakeholders; increase enrollment in undergraduate and graduate programs; oversee the operation of the SRI & ETTC in a manner that strengthens its fiscal health and integrates with University educational and extracurricular activities; diversify revenue through programming, continuing education, community partnerships, grants, and fundraising opportunities; and, effectively manage the School’s fiscal and physical resources. Additionally, the School prepares pre-service and in-service educators for licensure, which requires continuous national accreditation (Association for Advancing Quality in Teacher Preparation, AAQEP) and compliance with state and federal reporting regulations.

The Dean is responsible for providing strategic intellectual leadership and for working effectively with faculty, staff, collective bargaining units, and other stakeholders on the School’s positioning and operations, including all program and personnel activities. The Dean serves as a member of the Dean’s Council and the Provost’s Academic Affairs Council.

The Dean’s office includes an Assistant Dean and administrative staff. The new Dean of Education takes office with a general charge to support and advance the continued excellence of the School. Benefiting from a dedicated and passionate faculty, the Dean will provide vision and creative guidance to the School to assure that it maintains its ongoing strengths. At the same time, the Dean must provide transparent and authentic leadership, rooted in a deep and abiding appreciation for lifelong learning and a desire to serve students.

Required Qualifications :

• Terminal degree in education or related field
• A minimum of three (3) years of significant and varied academic leadership experience closely related to areas of Deans’ responsibilities
• Record of scholarly / creative activity and service meriting appointment as full professor tenure status (by the time first eligible)
• Evidence of a successful record of programmatic assessment or accreditation experience
