Job description

ADEX Healthcare Staffing LLC is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Job Details :

  • Medical / Surgical position specializing in post-operative GI and wound care
  • Patient ratio of 6 : 1 for days, nights, and weekends
  • 24-hour orientation required
  • Weekend coverage required with every other holiday
  • Float to other inpatient units as needed (agency floated first)
  • 2 years of experience required with minimum of one completed travel contract
  • Post-operative experience required, specifically full-time post-op unit experience
  • Acute care experience required
  • Must live over 65 miles from facility (no local travelers accepted)
  • Required certifications : ACLS, BLS (AHA required)
  • Louisiana or Compact license required upon submission
  • Epic charting system experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Must be part of Emergency Team during hurricane season (June 1 - November 30) with expectation to stay at facility during storms
  • Handle patient diagnoses including pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, wound infections, post-op infections
  • Work with special procedures : pancreatectomy, esophagectomy, Whipple, spleenectomy, bariatric surgery, mastectomy
  • Manage equipment : PEG, PEJ, PCA, JP drains, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, colostomy, ileostomy
  • Care for adult and geriatric patients on 24-bed inpatient unit
  • May receive Med / Surg overflow patients
