About the Role
Were looking for an Assistant Surveyor to assist the surveyor and provide support for construction layouts and survey work.
Core Responsibilities
Support surveying activities under the direction of the Surveyor or site leadership.
Assist with establishing baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements for ground surveys.Perform survey layouts and collect related data as instructed.Mark survey points out by driving stakes, nails, and hubs into surfaces.Assist with installing level loops and conducting traverses.Equipment Use and CareAssemble, disassemble, check, adjust, and maintain surveying instruments and equipment, including GPS base-station and rover, robotic total station, site levels, and laser levels.
Ensure equipment is properly handled, cleaned, and stored after use.Report malfunctions or issues to the Surveyor timely.Data Collection and DocumentationRecord field measurements and assist with verifying accuracy of survey data.
Maintain daily logs, field notes, sketches, and reports as directed.Reference and assist with interpreting project drawings, specifications, field books, maps, deeds, and other records.Quality and SafetySupport quality-control checks on site layouts, site work, and traffic control.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.Identify and report risk and hazards observed in the field.Learning and Additional DutiesTake initiative to learn the purpose and process of a Surveyors duties.
Demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new skills.Assist with special projects as assigned.Preferred Qualifications
1 3 years of experience in construction surveying or a closely related field.High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification in surveying or construction technology is acceptable.Strong math skills, including the ability to add and subtract lengths, convert between units of measurement, and measure distances, angles, and directions.Demonstrated ability to take accurate field notes, maintain documentation, and support project reporting.Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs of equipment and supplies throughout the workday, including in varied working and weather conditions.Reliable transportation to and from assigned worksites.Experience using survey and construction software and MS Office Suite.Familiarity with robotic total stations, GPS base stations and rovers, site levels, and laser levels.Core Competencies
