CT / MRI

The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist performs routine and complex imaging exams in assigned modalities which may include a combination of the following dependent on advanced certification and competency : Xray, CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PET / CT, Interventional Radiology.

Multi-Modality Imaging technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic exams, use of radiofrequencies, and / or multi-frequency sound waves for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis, interpretation and the performance of imaging exams and procedures at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.

Multi-Modality Imaging technologists prepare, administer and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

The Multi-Modality Technologist must be flexible in job assignments, willing and able to learn new skills, and is required to maintain annual competencies in all assigned modalities.

Multi-Modality Technologists must actively contribute to patient care across multiple modalities within their scheduled shifts and / or maintain active placement on more than one modality schedule during each pay period.

Job Duties

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and / or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and / or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Applying principles of radiation safety, magnetic resonance safety, and / or ultrasound safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Assisting the licensed practitioner interventional procedures.
• Performing imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Selecting appropriate imaging parameters with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
