Principle Responsibilities / Position Purpose

The Banquet Captain I is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Private Events Space at Funky Buddha Brewery with a focus on exceptional guest service. The Banquet Captain I oversees all aspects of the event in the absence of the Banquet Captain, including set-up, serving, and cleanup. Banquet Captains are responsible for helping with training and coaching the banquet staff and managing the client the day of the event.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES : ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Comply at all times with the standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient banquet operations.
• Assist as necessary in the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet functions.
• Keep kitchen informed of accurate counts for plating.
• Review menu / service with the Banquets Director and Executive Chef as needed.
• Maintain up to date details on banquet functions and communicate to staff and all necessary personnel.
• Respond to guests’ requests as needed.
• Responsible for safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of service areas.
• Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with employees and other departments.
• Ensure that pre-shift meetings are conducted for all functions.
• Control and audit alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
• Supervise and observe the performance of hourly service personnel.
• Responsible for control and maintenance of all service equipment.
• Control Beer flow in and out of the Private Event Space with inventory logs.
• Knows and adheres to health and sanitation guidelines and follows all safety policies.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.

OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety :

Employees will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. Funky Buddha Brewery provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your Manager.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

High School diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Prior banquet serving experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Craft beer experience preferred.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

ServSafe certificate required.

GROOMING

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

OTHER

Additional language ability preferred.
