Job description

Overview

Senior Information Technology Assistant at Westcliff University. The role provides comprehensive hardware and software support to ensure smooth operations across IT systems. You will be the go-to expert for troubleshooting, resolving technical issues, and providing training and guidance to staff.

Responsibilities

Hardware Support : Install, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, printers, and other IT hardware. Perform hardware upgrades and replacements. Ensure hardware is properly configured and optimized for end-users.
Software Support : Install, configure, update software applications and operating systems. Troubleshoot software issues and collaborate with vendors for licensing management.
Technical Assistance & Troubleshooting : Provide hands-on support to staff, in person and remotely. Diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner. Document issues and resolutions.
System Maintenance & Updates : Perform regular checks, updates, and backups. Ensure systems comply with security policies.
User Training & Support : Offer training and develop user guides.
Collaboration : Work with IT managers on initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Minimum 3 years IT support experience with hardware and software troubleshooting. Proficiency with Windows operating systems.

Strong technical skills in hardware components, software installation and troubleshooting (e.g., Microsoft Office, network software, antivirus solutions); familiarity with networking concepts (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN); experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.

Soft skills : excellent problem-solving, strong communication, ability to work under pressure, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable : Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure); Experience with Active Directory and server management.

Working conditions : Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; on-call and weekend work as needed.
