SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. located in Norfolk, Virginia is a shipyard related subcontractor looking to hire a Lead Technician for Technical Flush Department

Job Summary

A Lead Technician is capable of delegating work and assignments to team members and collaborates hands-on with them. Lead Technicians will work directly with the Production Manager to coordinate and execute project direction while demonstrating best practices to the crew.

Must be in Norfolk, Virginia; we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time.

Responsibilities :

  • Technician responsibilities such as :
  • Read and understand PCPs
  • Understand and execute documentation of work processes
  • Set Up
  • Operations and Monitoring
  • Break Down
  • Repairs and Maintenance
  • Perform other related duties as requested or assigned
  • Oversee technicians and evaluate areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement flushing plans, procedures, and schedules
  • Collaborate with project managers and production teams
  • Verify all processes are followed
  • Conduct training for technicians as needed
  • Participate in the service repair and maintenance program
  • Always use proper PPE

Qualifications :

  • Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
  • Attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety
  • Able to receive, follow, and give instructions and communicate with co-workers
  • Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment
  • Technical expertise in flushing operations, hydraulic systems, and piping
  • Previous experience in ship repair, maintenance, or naval operations (5+ years)
  • Education Requirements :

  • High school diploma or GED, B.A., Technical / Vocational trade school, or apprenticeship
  • Working Conditions and Physical Demands :

    Work is conducted indoors and outdoors, frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work may be conducted indoors or aboard vessels which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat, as well as noise and dust present depending on the location of work. Safety equipment is required.

    The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical surfaces. Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. This is a dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.

    Other requirements :

    All positions require a pre-employment medical test. This employer participates in E-Verify. Must be able to qualify for DBIDS security clearance. Ability to read technical English is a must. U.S. Citizenship is preferred (for some work locations it is required). Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
