Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a surgical Med / Surg unit in Illinois, requiring Level 1 trauma and Epic EMR experience.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital Med / Surg unit with a surgical focus
  • Day shifts : 7 : 00AM–7 : 30PM, 3 days per week
  • Care for complex post-operative patients, including those with new tracheostomies, wound vacs, and new ostomies
  • Collaborate with general surgical and OMFS residency services
  • Epic EMR is used and experience is required
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care and documentation for complex surgical patients
  • Perform advanced wound management, tracheostomy care, and ostomy education
  • Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team including surgical residents
  • RTO (time off) may not exceed 7 days per 13-week contract
  • Previous contingent workers at Carle Health must observe a 6-month break after one year of continuous assignment
  • No travel partners accepted for this assignment

    • Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in good standing; temp license accepted
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Level 1 trauma experience required
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • ASN required; BSN preferred
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
