Job Summary
Under general supervision, the CT Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. This role may also include general diagnostic radiology examinations. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, patient safety, and compliance with hospital protocols while supporting radiologists and clinical teams.
Essential Functions
Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for imagingReview clinical data and perform appropriate examinations, gathering additional patient history as neededPrepare procedure rooms and maintain stock of suppliesAnalyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform CT scansOperate equipment manually to obtain diagnostic informationAdminister intravenous contrast media using power injectors; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if necessaryAssist radiologists with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsiesApply radiation protection principles (shielding, ALARA techniques, appropriate equipment settings)Ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS and resolve exceptionsComplete study indexing in RIS, including study begin, study end, and completionConfirm clinical protocols with radiologists as necessaryDocument all procedures in medical records and radiology systems to support clinical and billing functionsDemonstrate team member standards of excellence including communication, responsiveness, innovation, and respect for diversityRequired Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of CT experienceExperience with GE and Philips equipmentStrong customer service skills, including communication, ownership, motivation, sensitivity, excellence, teamwork, and respectAbility to work independently and as part of a teamFlexibility, initiative, and openness to new learning experiencesCommitment to diversity and inclusionPhysical Demands & Working Conditions
