American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg trauma unit position requiring a MO or compact license and strong trauma care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position based in the Medical Surgical unit of a short-term acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet, and teaching hospitalCares for patients with trauma, acute care surgeries, and geriatric trauma; patient diagnoses include ED, OR, or ICU admissionsPatient ratios are 1 : 4-5Care includes trauma (abuse / violence victims, MVAs, falls), surgeries (appendicitis, hernia repairs, etc.), ortho trauma, TBI, and wound careEvery other weekend work is requiredDay shift (3x12 hours, 7 : 00-19 : 30)Charting is completed in Epic (Epic experience preferred)Travelers will float within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as neededUse of advanced equipment such as wound vacs, restraints, external fixators, high flow nasal cannula, and liftsMust be comfortable caring for geriatric and trauma patients, including those with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuriesCompletion of pre-start online modules is requiredFacial hair must allow for fit testing or must be shaved for mask fit testsScrub color is navy blueHoliday and every other weekend coverage is requiredNo more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, and no RTO permitted during the first week of orientationAll standard travelers can work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month breakFirst-time travelers may be consideredParking options vary by shift and require a monthly fee for day shifts; nights park freeMust pass all hospital compliance requirements prior to startReturned travelers must adhere to the facility's return policy\n \n Requirements\n
Active MO or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg and trauma experienceBCLS certification requiredSuccessful completion of Relias EKG exam; dysrhythmia interpretation / management requiredExperience with blood product administration, IV starts, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, PCA, and use of CPAP / BiPAPExperience with surgical drains, chest tubes, and wound care equipment requiredNo local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radiusPending licenses accepted (except for compact states with MO residency)Must provide SSN and DOB for compliancePermanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to the facility as a traveler\n Benefits\n
