Position Summary :

The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and payments. This role supports month-end and year-end closing activities, reconciles vendor accounts, and serves as a key contact for internal departments and external vendors regarding AP inquiries. The senior specialist also assists in process improvement initiatives and mentors junior team members.

Key Responsibilities :

• Process and review high-volume invoices, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals, and correct coding to general ledger accounts and cost centers.
• Manage weekly check runs, ACH and wire payments, and ensure timely vendor payments while maintaining proper documentation.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research and resolve discrepancies, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Review employee expense reimbursements in compliance with company policies and IRS guidelines.
• Assist in monthly and year-end close processes, including accruals and AP reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate aging reports, payment schedules, and AP metrics.
• Collaborate with procurement, Treasury, and other departments to ensure smooth payment workflows.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting best practices.
• Support external and internal audit requests with accurate and timely documentation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to automation or efficiency initiatives.
• Train, mentor, and provide guidance to junior AP staff as needed.
