Job Description Summary

PayPal’s Legal team seeks an experienced, highly engaged privacy lawyer to serve as Senior Counsel, Privacy Legal. The candidate will drive global privacy advice across various product areas and support the commercial legal team with data‑protection agreements. The role requires translating complex legal concepts into practical guidance in a fast‑moving, cross‑functional environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead complex projects of diverse scope, driving legal initiatives that support business growth and innovation.
  • Participate in complex problem resolution, providing expert legal advice on high‑stakes issues and disputes.
  • Provide expert legal advice and support in growing areas such as compliance, data privacy, and litigation support.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, advising on the implementation of new legal technologies and automation tools.
  • Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal’s legal interests by developing comprehensive risk‑management frameworks.
  • Represent PayPal in litigation and other legal proceedings, leading case strategies and ensuring effective representation.

Expected Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience and a Juris Doctorate degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Additional Responsibilities and Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant work experience in product privacy counseling, privacy compliance, and supporting privacy & data‑sharing terms in contractual agreements.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and international privacy and data‑protection statutes, including GLBA, GDPR, and U.S. state privacy laws.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable legal guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving environment with shifting priorities and cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstrated interest in PayPal, digital finance, and the broader payments ecosystem.

    • Compensation

    The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $152,500 to $262,350. Compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
