Scope of the position :
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of the Bilingual Domestic Violence Program (BDVP), the Family Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for maintaining consistent and supportive contact with families residing in permanent support housing. Conducts case management services including assessment, goal planning, advocacy, linkage to community resources, and support in obtaining permanent housing. This position follows a hybrid schedule, typically consisting of at least 3 days on-site following a 90-day probation period and based on program needs. This role requires occasional after hours and weekends with flex time provided in exchange.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides weekly intensive case management, advocacy, and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their families residing in permanent supportive housing, Sheila Brown.
- Meets residents onsite at the housing program, primarily during daytime hours, with evening availability as needed based on specific circumstances.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with agency standards and best practices.
- Organizes and facilitates community meetings and support groups for residents.
- Develops and maintains contact with other agency staff and local service providers to create individualized services for residents and their families.
- Provides scheduled hotline coverage and participates in an on-call rotation to address after-hours crises for Sheila Brown program.
- Meets regularly with supervisor to review service delivery, program activity, and ensure compliance with agency standards, including routine documentation audits.
Additional Responsibilities
Provides monthly case management and support to aftercare residents in independent housing.Offers life skills support to help residents address and overcome identified challenges.Assists residents with housing applications (e.g., PHA, Section 8) and supports them through housing-related processes for independent housing.Maintains current resource and referral information on services related to domestic violence, substance use, housing, child and family services, and healthcare.Qualifications :
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in the field of human services, social work, or related field is preferred but not required.At least 2 years’ experience in providing case management is required.The individual is expected to demonstrate understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, knowledge of community resources, and sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence victims and their families.The individual is expected to present good listening skills, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and must be able to work with a diverse group of individualsCompletion of a state mandated 40-hour domestic violence training and 5 hours of double staffing is required; can be completed upon hiring.Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.We strongly encourage BIPOC applicants.
