Cherry Brook in a 100 bed skilled nursing facility in Canton, CT. We're hiring a recreation assistant to join our team.

The Recreation Assistant at Cherry Brook Health Care Center plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents through engaging recreational activities. This position is focused on planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of programs that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being. Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals as part of a therapeutic recreation team.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certification in recreational therapy or a related field.
  • Experience in a healthcare or senior living environment, specifically a nursing home.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Plan and facilitate recreational activities and programs for residents, ensuring they are engaging and appropriate for various skill levels.
  • Assist in the assessment of residents' interests and needs to tailor activities that promote their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for all recreational activities, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate events and outings, ensuring smooth execution and resident participation.
  • Document participation and feedback from residents to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make necessary adjustments.
