The Material Receiving and Shipping is responsible for overseeing all incoming and outgoing materials, products, and supplies for an architectural millwork company. This role ensures accurate receipt, organization, documentation, and distribution of raw materials, hardware, and finished goods to support production schedules and on-time project delivery.
Key Responsibilities :
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Oversee the receiving process for lumber, veneers, hardware, sheet goods, and specialty finishes.
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and specifications for accuracy, quality, and damage.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure all materials are properly labeled, stored, and logged in the ERP or inventory management system.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Engineering to resolve discrepancies or material issues.
- Implement and maintain a system for traceability of materials by project and work order.
Shipping & Logistics
Coordinate shipments of completed millwork and casework to job sites.Ensure all packaging, crating, and labeling meets project requirements and prevents damage during transit.Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and project-specific paperwork.Process Improvement
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Project Management to anticipate material needs and shipping schedules.Continuously evaluate and improve processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality control.Reports To : Shop ForemanQualifications :
Experience in material handling, warehouse, or logistics management; experience in architectural millwork, cabinetry, or construction manufacturing preferred.Knowledge of millwork materials, finishes, and fabrication processes preferred.Experience with ERP or inventory management systems preferred.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Forklift certification preferred.Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.Core Competencies :
